Individual Referrals, Fees and Rebates.
From 1 January 2024 the fee for an individual session is $250 (no GST). Clinical supervision attracts GST. The fee for a Psychological Report are discussed in advance and also attract GST.
Work conducted on behalf of organisations (e.g. Employee Assistance Programs), is charged at the full APS recommended rate for 2024, which is $300 (plus GST) per session.
A Mental Health Plan created by a GP or a referral by a Psychiatrist will attract a Medicare Rebate of $137.05 per session, leaving an out-of-pocket gap of $112.95 per session. MH Plans cover 6 initial sessions with a possibility for another 4 sessions after a Review by the referring doctor.
Telehealth under MH Plans is available within Australia, irrespective of the geographical location of client and therapist.
Clients with chronic conditions and complex care needs that require treatment by more than one medical or allied health practitioner (e.g. physiotherapy + psychology) can be referred under a shared care plan (Team Care Arrangement or GP Management Plan under the Chronic Disease Management program). This referral is valid for a maximum of 5 sessions per calendar year for all services involved (e.g. 3 x physiotherapy + 2 x psychology services). The Medicare Rebate for psychology is lower than for MH Plans and the out-of-pocket gaps are higher.
A GP referral for Non-directive Pregnancy Support Counselling covers up to 3 sessions per pregnancy. You are eligible if you are currently pregnant or have been pregnant in the past 12 months. The Medicare Rebate is $64.70, leaving an out-of-pocket gap of $160.30 per session (currently this program is not available).
Private Health Insurance cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare to cover out-of-pocket gaps but can be used on its own for private sessions. The level of cover depends on each policy – please contact your private health fund for details.

The out-of-pockets gap fees for clients with valid claims are between $40 and $60 per session.
We do not have the capacity for routine bulk-billing. However, if you are receiving Welfare Benefits, we can discuss your situation on a case-by-case basis.
Cancellations - we require minimum 24-hr notice (1 business day) for cancellations or re-scheduling of appointments. Late cancellation fees do apply and are not rebated.
We do not provide Centrelink Disability Pension assessments, services under the NDIS or services with regards to Forensic matters.
Individual Differences does not provide after hours or emergency services.
